Actim Fecal Blood
Colorectal cancer affects men and women equally and is one of the most common types of cancer. Occult blood in fecal samples is a sign of bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract. As tumors bleed, the presence of occult blood may therefore indicate colorectal cancer.
Actim Fecal Blood is an immunochromatographic test based on monoclonal antibodies detecting hemoglobin in fecal samples. The test is easy and hygienic to use, and since it is specific for human hemoglobin it requires no dietary restrictions on the patient. The sensitivity of the test is set to detect patients who have more than 25-50 µg of hemoglobin per gram of feces and may therefore need to be referred for subsequent endoscopic examinations.
Actim Fecal Blood is not yet available in the US.
