Actim Partus
In many cases it is essential to determine whether an expectant mother is merely experiencing normal preterm contractions or whether she is indeed in true labor.
Actim PARTUS is a fast and simple bedside test to measure the ripeness of the cervix during pregnancy. It is an immunochromatographic dipstick test that detects the presence of the phosphorylated form of IGFBP-1 (insulin-like growth factor binding protein-1) in cervical secretions.
Helps you determine the risk of preterm delivery.
Several studies indicate that the level of phosphorylated IGFBP-1 rises considerably as the cervix matures. Actim PARTUS can therefore be used to assess whether true on-term or preterm labor has actually started. More specifically, a negative test result is a safe indication that imminent delivery or delivery within two weeks is highly unlikely.
If labor needs to be induced, Actim PARTUS will also help you to estimate the ripeness of the cervix and to select the most suitable induction method.
Quick bedside test
The Actim PARTUS dipstick test can be performed quickly and simply by taking a cervical secretion sample, extracting it and immersing the dipstick in a solution of the extraction.
A positive test result is shown as two blue lines – a control line and a test line – in the result area. If only the control line has appeared after five minutes, the test result is negative.
Actim Partus is not currently available in the US.
